Super Blenders and Learning Design Softwares

Hi, I have not posted in a loooong time! Just had a few thoughts to share!

Have you ever been to Costco and seen those blender demonstrations? Blenders are just for making the occasional smoothie, right? Think again! They can do everything: mince, liquefy, make soups, sauces, and drinks, grind wheat ...even fix the kitchen sink! Well, not exactly, but that is how many design softwares are. When it comes to features, they are packed to the max! It can seem like there is always more to learn.

Recently I decided it was to time to invest more heavily in my development as an artist, and one my first stops has been Lynda.com. It is a subscription website that contains extensive libraries on how to use various popular softwares related to visual arts. There are even photography courses on there.

Having been self-taught on Illustrator and not especially blown away by the training materials Adobe itself provides, this has been super educational and I highly recommend it. The topics are broken up into shorter videos that are typically five to seven minutes long, which makes it easier to find a stopping point and to pick up where you left off later on. Plus, it gives you a chance to see what the latest versions of your software can do, and you can decide whether you want to fork over the dough to stay current, or if it's even worth it.

Because, hey, if your blender can make powdered sugar out of table sugar in a pinch, wouldn't you want to know that?
